Interior designers in Baka, the German Colony and Talpiot

Three studios in this ranking give an address along the Hebron Road and Bethlehem Road strip that runs through Baka and the German Colony. Talpiot, at the southern end, is where most of Jerusalem's kitchen and furniture showrooms sit, so a studio based here spends less time on the road to suppliers.

The housing here

  • Older stone buildings, including Templer-era houses in the German Colony and 1930s to 1960s walk-ups in Baka. Renovations here often mean high ceilings, arched windows, thick walls and old plumbing.
  • Preservation rules apply to some German Colony and Baka buildings. Ask a studio whether it has handled a permit on a listed building before you buy.
  • Newer buildings on Hebron Road and in Arnona mix in, with kablan (developer) apartments that need tenant changes before handover.

What to ask. Ask which of their projects were old-building renovations in this part of the city, and whether they managed the contractor on site.
